NSW: Islamic spokesman says media to blame for racist attacks

A spokesman for the Islamic community says violence at Sydney's Cronulla Beach .. was
incited by racist and irresponsible sections of the media.

The Islamic Friendship Association's KEYSER TRAD said the violence was bound to happen
.. because of racist rhetoric on Sydney talk back radio throughout the week.

TRAD said sections of the media had taken the issue far too far .. turned a common
youth issue into an issue of ethnicity.

There have been three arrests and people have been attacked at the southern Sydney
beach today after about 5,000 people .. some yelling racist chants directed towards the
Lebanese community .. converged.
